INFORMATION COLLECTED

We collect two types of information: Personal Data and Non-Personal Data.

Non-Personal Data is data that does not identify any specific individual. It includes anonymous usage information, generic demographic data, referring pages and URLs, platform type, and preferences generated based on your clicks on the Site.

Personal Data includes your first name, last name, phone number, email address, company name (if applicable), and address, whenever provided to us through registration, a purchase, or contact on the Site.

WHAT DATA WE COLLECT AND WHY

We work with a set of platforms that help us give you a good experience, whether browsing the Site, purchasing one of our services, or accessing your materials. Each one handles a different type of data, always with the same goal: to serve you better.
We automatically collect technical data, such as the referring URL, browser type, device used, and time and date of access, through cookies and log files. If you leave a comment, we store your name, email, and the content of the comment.
Name, billing address, email, phone, and order history. This data is used to process your purchase, issue an invoice, and provide support if you need it.
Your payment data is processed directly by EuPago, which meets the security standards required for payment processing in Portugal, including Multibanco and MB WAY.
We use Brevo to manage the sending of our newsletter and other automatic communications, such as transactional emails related to your account or purchase. Your email is stored on this platform for as long as the subscription or contractual relationship remains active. You can unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time via the link included in each email.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file sent from our server to the User’s browser, which allows us to recognize your device and collect Non-Personal Data about your use of the Site, for example, which pages you visit and how often. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can change your browser settings to decline or delete them at any time. Declining cookies does not prevent you from using the Site, but some features may be limited. We use cookies essential to the Site’s operation and, where applicable, analytics cookies and cookies from plugins such as WordPress and LiteSpeed Cache. Whenever required by law, we ask for your consent before activating non-essential cookies, in accordance with Law No. 41/2004.

WHY WE PROCESS YOUR DATA

We process your data on one of the following legal bases, as set out in Article 6 of the GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract, when you purchase or subscribe to one of our services
  • Consent, when you subscribe to Whispers or fill out a voluntary form
  • Legitimate interest, to keep the Site secure and functioning well
  • Legal obligation, for billing and accounting purposes

USE AND SHARING OF INFORMATION

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.

We share data only with providers who deliver services to TEA and who guarantee the same level of protection, in accordance with Article 28 of the GDPR:

  • WooCommerce to manage orders and subscriptions
  • EuPago, to process payments
  • Brevo, to send communications you have agreed to receive

We may also share data if, in good faith, we consider it necessary to comply with the law, respond to a legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of TEA or our Users.

As for Non-Personal Data, we may use it freely to improve the Service, analyze trends, and personalize the experience.

PROTECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

We implement security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, including secure connection (SSL) and monitoring for suspicious access. Even so, no system is infallible. By using the Service, you acknowledge and accept this risk.

YOUR RIGHTS

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request the deletion of your data
  • Object to processing, including for marketing purposes
  • Restrict processing
  • Request portability of your data

To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@englishaffair.com. We respond within one month, as provided by law.

If you feel your rights have not been respected, you can file a complaint with the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD), at www.cnpd.pt.

MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

You have the right to stop us, at any time, from contacting you for marketing purposes, whether by email, WhatsApp, or phone. Every promotional email includes instructions for unsubscribing. If contact is made via WhatsApp, simply reply indicating that you no longer wish to receive promotional messages. If by phone, you can make the same request directly during the call. In any of these cases, we handle your request immediately. This right applies only to promotional communications. We may still contact you through these channels regarding matters related to a purchase, subscription, or active account, since these communications are not marketing in nature.
